2005 BC Skills Competition
This year 52 hair students, 13 esthetics students and 10 nail students competed in the 2005 BC Skills Competition. This is the second year that the Cosmetology Industry Association of British Columbia has sponsored this event and we are happy to announce that the competition was a huge success. Our gold medal winners from the Hair competition as well as the Esthetics competition will be traveling to Edmonton in early June to compete for the national title. Unfortunately, the Gold medal winner from the Nails category is unable to move on to the national competition as Skills Canada is still in the developing phase of adding Nails to their national competition.
We would like to thank the sponsors for the Hairdressing competition for supplying our candidates with the much-needed products to use while training and competing:
Schwarzkopf Professional and Kingdom Beauty for supplying the hair competitors with an extreme amount or coloring products as well as some styling aids. Schwarzkopf and Kingdom Beauty donated approximately $8000 worth of product.
AG Hair Cosmetics for supplying styling products.
A special thank you to Nova Beauty for supplying the Esthetics candidates with Skeyndor skin care products and Waxworx waxing products, along with OPI Nail products for both Nails and Esthetics candidates. Nova II Beauty donated product valued at approximately $1800 and OPI donated an additional $1200. Mannequins were supplied to our candidates by our own CIABC with help in part from NP Group.
This competition could not have happened with such great success without the help of all our sponsors. Thanks again.
Also many thanks go out to our judges for volunteering their time to evaluate each competitor. Congratulations to all competitors and best of luck to our candidates moving on to nationals.
