What is BeautySafe?

BeautySafe is an online educational tool promoting protocols of infection control and safe sanitation and chemical practices. This webinar was designed in response to the public’s concern, relative to continually surfacing viral and bacterial strains, and the cosmetology industry’s ongoing need for information and awareness. BeautySafe not only incorporates standards recognized in BC, but also from across Canada, thus encouraging all salon and spa operators to continually maintain these high standards while increasing the reputability factor of their business.

 

Who should take the BeautySafe course?

The Cosmetology Industry Association of British Columbia recommends that all industry professionals such as Hairstylists, Barbers, Estheticians, Make-Up Artists, Nail Technicians and Cosmetic Tattoo Artists complete the BeautySafe program. Other industry related professionals such as Receptionists, Salon and Spa Managers and Health Inspectors are also encouraged to complete this program.

 

Why should I take the BeautySafe course?

There are currently no mechanisms in place that specifically and completely address infection control and safe sanitation and chemical practices within our industry. BeautySafe aims to be that mechanism. This program will update and refresh your knowledge on topics from bacteria, viruses and fungi to implement classification, principles of prevention and levels of disinfectants. Refreshing your knowledge on this matter will not only be proactive, but also preventative in addressing these concerns.

 

What do I get from BeautySafe?

Upon successful completion of the BeautySafe course, you will not only broaden your knowledge, but you will also be provided with recognizable materials that will enable you to proudly promote yourself in a BeautySafe light. These materials include the BeautySafe decal and the BeautySafe certificate to display. As a proud and professional Cosmetologist, you will have peace of mind that BeautySafe has been created to the highest standard by your professional trade association, The Cosmetology Industry Association of British Columbia.
